Dolphins glide effortlessly through the water because of their smooth skin. An equally efficient sliding effect is achieved through our GLISS-COAT® 2083 process.

The process

GLISS-COAT® 2083 is a hard-anodising-like layer. The layer was originally developed to eliminate as far as possible the so-called stick-slip effect in shock absorbers for motorcycles.

GLISS-COAT® 2083 can also be coloured black.

  • Characteristics

    During hard anodising, half of the oxide grows into the base material and half outwards. As a result, the bond between the layer and the base material is extremely high. GLISS-COAT® 2083 has good electrical insulating properties, has a low thermal conductivity and a high dielectric strength.

    The layer has a significantly reduced roughness. Post-treatment with fluoropolymers not only further reduces roughness but also increases corrosion protection.

  • Base Materials

    Almost all technically interesting aluminium alloys, be they wrought alloys, cast alloys or die cast alloys, can be coated with GLISS-COAT® 2083.

  • Field of Application

    The coating is used in mechanical engineering, in the motorcycle industry as well as in pneumatics. Typical components are pneumatic cylinders, pneumatic valves or shock absorber tubes for motorcycles.
